Berliner Hochschule für Technik (BHT) is one of Germany‘s largest state universities of applied sciences. The State-approved school for rescue services and fire brigades. The supports the work of the Gelsenkirchen fire department by providing qualified training and continuing education. In addition to emergency response, the department provides fire-safety education in kindergartens and schools. Study performed in 2020 by PwC: Understanding the Effectiveness of VR Soft Skill Training in the Enterprise
Employees trained using VR completed training faster
They were up to four times faster in VR than in the classroom and 1.5 times faster than e-learn.
VR learners were more confident
The measurement reveals a huge improvement in confidence acting on issues of diversity and inclusion after the training. They VR group were up to 275% more confident to act on what they learned. A 40% improvement over classroom and 35% improvement over e-learn.
Immersive content has a bigger emotional engagement
This graphics shows the average emotional connection felt to learning content. V-learners felt 3.75 times more emotionally connected to the content than classroom learners and 2.3 times more connected than e-learners.
Employees in VR were more focused during the training
This was expected considering that immersive experience requries your vision and atention. The study reveals that VR-trained learners were up to 4 times more focused during training than their e-learning peers and 1.5 times more focused than their classroom variant.
